Camp Samac Committee, Work Days, Program Support, Range Duty, Restoration Projects

A well run camp takes a lot of work, so under the guidance of our Camp Warden and the Camp Samac Property Committee, we are constantly scoping out volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are needed as evening hosts and safety officers, weekend clean-up crews and members of periodic maintenance crews

Program Support Teams

Do you want to help Camp Samac launch exciting new programs in support of The Canadian Path? Are you excited to empower Scouters to help youth have life changing Scouting experiences? Our new Program Support Functional Team is looking to recruit an all-star volunteer crew with professional experience or a knack for in-Section coaching in Environmental Science, Wood Working, STEM and more.

The Program Support Functional Team will operate as a network of subject matter experts around the Camp, ready to provide our membership with relevant, up-to-date resources and support.

As we relaunch Camp Samac after COVID, we are focused on developing a Nature Centre complete with a Forest Lab, a Wood Working Shop, and a STEM Lab. These separate buildings will be accessible to all scouters and expand our programming abilities. All we need is you to help make it happen!

Camp Samac Property Committee

Do you want to have a say in what is happening at Camp Samac? Be part of the committee that directs what happens here at the Camp. The property is run by Scouts Canada and supported by Volunteers, but the Programming is Volunteer run and supported by the Staff, so either way, your voice is important. Be part of the Committee as a whole or sit on one of the various sub committees and help us make the Camp even greater

Work in Action Days – Offers of Service

There is always lots to do at Camp Samac and we believe that many hands make light work and is fun. Maybe you have a specialized skill or pride yourself in having a strong back, volunteer to help Camp Samac and Scouts Canada. Tasks change throughout the year, so join our call list or tell us about how you would like to help. We may be doing good things here but with your help it will even be better.

Event Support Volunteers – Service Team

As a special events volunteer, you will have the opportunity to help our team execute top-quality experiences at Camp Samac. Special event volunteer opportunities are “one-offs” in which volunteers are required to only commit for a single event or just the event day. During the event, volunteers will be assigned various activities which will collectively ensure that the event runs smoothly

Special Restoration Project Teams

We have a beautiful property at Camp Samac but aging buildings, climate change, invasive species and an inadequate planning has left a few areas that need to be rejuvenated or reborn. Whether it is helping with our fledgling pollinator program, reforesting or revitalizing our infrastructure, we need help. When it comes to restoration, and you are willing to help, all is welcome.

Range Line Safety Officers

Camp Samac takes great pride in having a Pellet and Archery Indoor Range; however, with out Range Line Safety Officers, it doesn’t exist. What is a RLSO? They supervise all safe shooting activities and range operations. Inform and educate visitors on the range’s rules plus occasionally assist visitors with firearm issues. If you would like to become certified and help at the range, we are wanting you!
