This Scout’s Canada camp has over 76 ha (188 acres) of forested nature in the middle of the fast growing City of Oshawa Ontario. Although surrounded by housing and institutions, Camp Samac remains a quiet and restful playground for the youth. There are lots of outdoor spaces and forests, winterized cabins, meeting spaces, and programs offered year round.

Camp Samac was founded in 1946 and is one of Scouts Canada’s largest staffed camping centres.

Seasonal Activities

Enjoy a summer paddle on Lake Samac, swim in the public pool, hiking the trails or camping with your Scouts under the stars. Camp Samac runs one of the best Summer Day Camp programs in Durham Region.

Winter offers outdoor snow activities, snow shoeing, skating, campfires, indoor archery and pellet range, escape room, visit to the Scout museum, HAM radio station and woodworking shop.

Fall and spring offer mid season camping or cabin rentals. For an evening outing you can watch the salmon and trout jump the dam, book into the range or escape room, explore the climbing wall or low ropes course, activity in a box from the Activities Centre. Explore the many hiking trails and enjoy a campfire.

Programs, Activities and Events

Camp Samac has a programs committee, with Activity Centre offering a wide variety of options to enhance your evening or weekend meeting at the camp. Lots of Activities-in-a-Box are available with pre-booking. Special day events year round including “Huck. Duck, Hunt”, Open Doors Oshawa, Outdoor Skills Workshops, Family Day Funday, Earth Day Activities and so on.
