Winter Rally for Troop
Sled Racing | Winter Activities | Games | Banquet
Saturday January 16, 2027 from 9:00 am
Council Hall and Beaver Meadow, Camp Samac, 275 Conlin Rd E, Oshawa, Ontario
Winter Rally ’27 each Troop to build and bring a dogsled to participate with in the dogsled speed race, dogsled design, winter survival-equipped dogsled, and the speed the sled travels from activity to activity. The activities are a competition based on points (focused on Winter OAS Level 3-4). Troops will bring and cook their Lunch on the trail.
The day will end with a hot dinner/banquet for everyone at Council Hall. Awards and crests will be presented then. If we have sufficient snow, snowshoeing will be available during the day.
The Program Committee is looking forward to a winter day full of fun and competition. We have approached the Venturer Companies to each run an activity station. The Venturers were very supportive. The Durham Med Vents will run a station covering winter safety and some first aid. One station is building a tripod to hang an object from, then build a fire to achieve the required reaction 🙂 🙂
Sleds must be big enough to carry the troop’s equipment, lunch and gear for the day, carry a winter survival kit for the troop (to be judged); strong enough for the speed race (one person on back and troop team pulling)
- Dogsled judging will be: Dogsled race (against the clock and in an Activity slot) Judges at the Dogsled race will also judge the sled designs
- Dogsled’s winter survival kit preparedness will be judged at an activity slot with a scenario
Registration is $20.00/participant and $15.00 for Scouters.
